Resilience in Aging: Concepts, Research, and Outcomes

JAMA. 2011;305(17):1810-1813. doi:10.1001/jama.2011.569

Resilience in Aging: Concepts, Research, and Outcomes provides an interesting account of resilience—an important concept with respect to understanding the outcomes of human aging. Barbara Resnick, one of the editors, capitalized on the fact that the Gerontological Society of America, arguably the most prominent organization in gerontology, chose “Resilience in an Aging Society: Risks and Opportunities” as its theme for its 2008 Annual Meeting. With all who presented on resilience invited to contribute to this book, the result is uniquely diverse.
