VALUE OF STATE BOARD STATISTICS

JAMA. 2011;305(20):2123. doi:10.1001/jama.2011.622

For the eighth consecutive year we present this week tabulated statistics based on the examinations conducted by state medical examining and licensing boards. With the exception of one or two of the minor sectarian boards, our returns for the year 1910, published in this issue, are complete; in fact we have not heretofore had such ready and complete cooperation on the part of the state licensing boards. This is in marked contrast with the conditions in 1903, when reports from a large number of boards could not be obtained for the simple reason that no records whatever were kept by them.
