We received more than 500 e-mails and 167 letters for consideration for publication in response to the firing of George D. Lundberg, MD, as editor of JAMA. Of the letters submitted for publication, 135 opposed the firing of Dr Lundberg and supported his role at JAMA and 32 supported the decision by E. Ratcliffe Anderson, Jr, MD, to fire Dr Lundberg. The letters that appear below, 9 in support of Dr Lundberg, 2 in support of Dr Anderson, and 1 that expresses concerns about both, reflect the distribution of letters we received. Since these letters were received, the AMA and Dr Lundberg have reached an agreement on the terms of Dr Lundberg's departure from the AMA. Dr Lundberg has accepted a post as editor-in-chief of an Internet-based medical information company.—ED.
