To the Editor: I wholeheartedly agree with the need for editorial independence in publishing JAMA.1 Nevertheless, I am troubled by the increasing "courtship" of the media by JAMA and other medical journals. I realize increased circulation means increased advertising revenues, but I worry about the catering and sometimes pandering of journals to the lay media. Let us remain focused on the task of educating physicians.
