To the Editor: Dr Braddock and colleagues1 have expanded the literature on informed decision making by highlighting the importance of the complexity of the decisions and how this should guide the discussion between patient and physician. Missing from their framework, however, is the issue of patients' expectations for involvement in decision making, although the patients' role in decision making is included in the study's conceptual framework.
