To the Editor: The article by Dr Mundinger and colleagues1 concluded that nurse practitioners with the "same authority, responsibilities, productivity and administrative requirements, and patient population" had "comparable outcomes to primary care physicians." However, its implication that primary care given independently by nurse practitioners is equivalent to that provided by physicians cannot be concluded from this study.
