To the Editor: The article by Dr Sherman and colleagues1 on the results of the STAT trial showed an advantage of ancrod given within 3 hours from onset of ischemic stroke. However, the comments made by these authors about the results of European Stroke Treatment with Ancrod Trial (ESTAT), an ongoing European trial with ancrod administered 6 hours after stroke onset, require clarification.
