To the Editor: An association between statin use and decreased fracture risk has been postulated from the results of 3 case-control studies.13 However, other results4 have not supported these conclusions and prospective studies5,6 found no evidence of an effect of statins on fracture risk. It is possible that some of the earlier positive results resulted from unmeasured confounding.
