In Reply: Drs Lam and Leung note that our article lacks data on the number of cigarettes and smokers. This information would be important if smoking in public spaces were to be regulated. However, even a little passive smoking is dangerous. The environmental index for passive smoke is sufficiently expressed as the carboxyhemoglobin level in the blood of the subjects and carbon monoxide level in the air of the smoking room.1,2 As Mr Repace points out, we can estimate the level of smoking by using his equations.3
