In Reply: Drs Starke and Chowdhury reiterate
design limitations that we discussed in our article. Their description of
our study as a "large simple trial" ignores our use of randomized allocation,
placebo control, and double blinding that makes our study a well-controlled
trial. The study sample consisted of patients with recurrent acute sinusitis
or chronic rhinitis with endoscopic or radiographic findings of sinusitis.
The patients did not have isolated, uncomplicated acute sinusitis.
