In Reply: We agree with Dr Werth and colleagues about the important contributions related to end-of-life care in the psychological and social work literatures. We emphasized the vital role of the social worker in the clinical care of Mr G in our case study. The transcripts show her extensive involvement in helping Mr G explore his options for end-of-life care. Indeed, the social worker provided the voice for Mr G when advancing disease rendered him incapable of providing his perspective to the series editors.
