This is the second edition of a comprehensive text on diabetes and associated syndromes. In light of the worldwide importance of diabetes and the alarming statistics on its rate of increase, such a text is welcome. Appropriately, the related topics of prediabetes and the metabolic syndrome are included. The book is unusual in that it contains the analysis and thinking of a single author, Ronald A. Codario. The author displays his extensive knowledge of the prominent literature and includes a large group of references and supplemental reading for each of the 15 chapters.
