Consumers have a difficult time getting meaningful price information about health care services before they obtain them, reported the Government Accountability Office (GAO).
The report, released October 24, noted that consumers need price and other information to help them anticipate the costs of their care and make informed health care decisions. It becomes even more important as more consumers become responsible for a increasing proportion of their health care costs because they are uninsured or are using high-deductible health plans or other forms of cost sharing (http://tinyurl.com/43t846p).
