With Fundamentals of Sleep Medicine, Richard B. Berry has written a solid textbook of clinical sleep medicine comprising a 672-page print version along with access to an online version. Each chapter is organized in a clear structure, allowing readers to orient themselves easily and move swiftly through the content. The text is enhanced by easy-to-understand tables and figures, allowing the reader to browse and process the presented information in a logical manner. Color coding allows quick orientation while reading. The reader is guided through the textbook in a systematic way, from the basics of sleep, pathophysiology, and phenomenology to diagnostic testing and ultimately to a wide variety of sleep disorders. Readers new to sleep medicine will find this an adequate and detailed introduction to the field.
