New Chikungunya Guidelines

New guidelines to prevent, detect, and monitor outbreaks of chikungunya fever in the Americas have been published by the Pan American Health Organization/World Health Organization (PAN/WHO) in collaboration with the CDC (http://tinyurl.com/7nkoqyt).

This viral infection causes severe joint pain characteristic of the disease. Although chikungunya fever is rarely fatal, there is no specific treatment or vaccine for the disease.
