In Reply.—Dr Wallace and I clearly hold
incompatible views about the nature and causation of CFS, and JAMA has space
for both views. There is no need for Wallace to be perplexed and disappointed.
First, she chooses to contrast my review, correctly described as a "subjective
treatise," with the publication in JAMA of an article by Bou-Holaigah and
colleagues.1Although Wallace describes
this article as scholarly, the study suffers from substantial selection bias.
