In Reply.—The suggestion made by Dr Badgett and Ms Lawrence that different aspects of Internet sites providing health care information be categorized separately is a good one. We support their interest in encouraging people to rely on information based on the principles of evidence-based decision making. The value of the "markers of valid content" that they propose, however, requires formal evaluation in relation to Internet sites and is limited by the fact that these markers could be applied only to sites providing research information.
