The safest thing for a patient is to be in the hands of a man teaching medicine. In order to be a teacher of medicine the doctor must always be a student.—Charles H. Mayo

After its initial publication in 1946, TeLinde's Operative Gynecology rapidly became the bible for the surgical management of gynecological conditions. The original as well as the second and third editions were written by Richard W. TeLinde, professor of gynecology at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Subsequent editions have had multiple coauthors. The 10th updated edition consists of chapters covering the full gamut of gynecologic surgery, organized into sections discussing, for example, topics that affect the practice of gynecologic surgery as well as anatomy, perioperative care, incisions, and instrumentation.
