To the Editor.—The study by Dr Finkelstein and colleagues1 confirmed what we have seen and heard from many members of our organization: that while the vast majority of physicians treating short stature, and Turner syndrome in particular, recommend GH for girls with Turner syndrome and other pediatric growth disorders, many insurance companies refuse payment. The number of calls we receive on this issue from frantic parents has not decreased since the 1996 approval by the Food and Drug Administration of this therapy for Turner syndrome.
