Abstract

This book in the introduction stresses the importance of antisepsis, asepsis, sterilization and disinfection. It then deals with the preparation for the various types of operations, giving in detail the variety of instruments to be used in particular operations, with illustrations of numerous instruments, and telling where they can be purchased in Germany. It also gives in detail how the operating room should be set up for every type of operation. It also describes the various types of sterilizers and tells where they can be purchased. In other words, the book is an instrument and operating room equipment catalogue and describes the setup used in the particular hospital of which the authors are members. One can readily see that the book would be of almost no value in this country. In the first place, it is more practical to purchase instruments from our own instrument houses.
