For the last six years the State University of Iowa has offered a course on modern marriage in which members of the entire faculty have participated. The course has been coeducational and has included both married and unmarried students. The discussions in the course have been exceedingly frank. In this volume the aspect of mental hygiene is discussed by John M. Dorsey of the University of Michigan, the biologic aspects by Dr. Andrew H. Woods of the department of psychiatry, the physical aspects by Dr. E. D. Plass of the department of obstetrics. The volume discusses as well legal aspects, economics, religion, art and intelligence. There is some discussion of contraception and premarital examinations. The book should prove not only interesting but extremely valuable to any intelligent adult who contemplates marriage. It should also be especially suggestive to physicians and teachers who may be charged with the duty of advice
