Hematopoiesis and Cerebellar Hemangioblastoma-Reply

JAMA. 1964;187(12):963. doi:10.1001/jama.1964.03060250081034

The comments of Dr. Mortimer Lorber are well taken. I agree with most of them. The purpose of this short report was to stimulate interest of pathologists and surgeons in obtaining this type of material. I am sure Dr. Lorber and others would be interested in the assay of tumor fluid from similar cases. It is unfortunate that most cases of this type have not been extensively studied hematologically prior to the operative procedure.

The work of Starr et al1 should have been cited as reference No. 9 instead of that of Donati et al. Other communications on this subject have been published by Cramer and Kimsey2 and by Josephs et al.3 On page 151, "/cu mm" with reference to reticulocyte count should be deleted. The magnifications for the two figures should have appeared as follows: Fig 1, "X 600"; Fig 2, "X 300."
