This book is a collection of 19 articles on various aspects of endocrinology written by a group of eminent British and American physicians. In many ways it supplements the first volume in the series by covering new subjects, particularly those which have rapidly developed since the first volume was published in 1958. Specifically included are chapters on growth and thyrotropic hormones, aldosteronism, both primary and secondary, measurement of insulin activity, hypoglycemic syndromes and agents, hyperparathyroidism, the genetics of sexual differentiation, and ovarian and uterine dysfunction, pregnancy, oral contraceptives, anabolic steroids, and hormonal factors in the genesis of cancer.

As in most other collected works, some of the chapters are extremely basic, such as that on growth hormone, by A. Korner, whereas other chapters, such as the one on treatment of Cushing's syndrome, by R. G. Sprague and collaborators, are designed to serve as a practical clinical guide. Ample references are
