Knowledge is a process of piling up facts; wisdom lies in their simplification.—Martin H. Fischer

When first published 70 years ago, Novak's Textbook of Gynecology rapidly became acknowledged as the leading textbook on the subject in the United States. The editions edited by Edmund Novak presented not only the clinical characteristics and findings of gynecological disorders but also related these clinical features to the pathology. The current 15th edition, edited by Jonathan S. Berek, covers the major subjects related to gynecology but also includes chapters on communication, patient safety, and clinical research as well as some primary care.
