HIV-Infected Organ Transplants

JAMA. 2012;308(6):558. doi:10.1001/jama.2012.9553

HIV research, treatment, and advocacy groups are lobbying members of Congress to amend current law and allow transplantation of organs from HIV-infected donors to HIV-infected recipients.

At a June 27 congressional briefing on Capitol Hill, several speakers presented the case for amending the law. The briefing was put together by the HIV Medicine Association, amfAR, the Foundation for AIDS Research, the Human Rights Campaign, AIDS United, and the Treatment Action Group.
