In Reply: We agree with Dr Lambert that it is of interest to examine the association between herpes zoster vaccination and the incidence of postherpetic neuralgia. Currently, there is no validated algorithm for identifying incident postherpetic neuralgia cases using administrative data, on which our study was based. In light of the inquiry from Lambert, however, we compared the estimated incidence rate of postherpetic neuralgia between vaccinated and unvaccinated patients.
