Major League Baseball's January 10 announcement that it would begin testing players for use of human growth hormone (HGH) as a performance-enhancing drug during the regular baseball season drew praise from the leadership of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform.
In a January 10 statement, chairman Rep Darrell E. Issa (R, Calif) and ranking member Rep Elijah E. Cummings (D, Md) said, “This agreement sends a strong message to young people everywhere that performance-enhancing drugs are dangerous and unacceptable in any sport.”
