Blue Light for Skin Infections

JAMA. 2013;309(9):865. doi:10.1001/jama.2013.1846

Blue light may be an effective, nontoxic approach for treating skin and soft tissue infections, report researchers at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School, in Boston (Dai T et al. Antimicrob Agents Chemother. doi: 10.1128/AAC.01652-12 [published online December 21, 2012]). The therapy may be especially useful for treating infections caused by antibiotic-resistant microbes and helping reduce the use of antibiotics in general.
