Scientists Publish Comprehensive Human Urine Metabolome

JAMA. 2013;310(17):1785. doi:10.1001/jama.2013.281693

The chemical names, synonyms, descriptions, structures, concentrations, and disease associations for the nearly 3000 metabolites that have been detected in human urine are now freely available in a resource called the Urine Metabolome Database (http://bit.ly/15GFnZ9). The database includes both normal and abnormal (disease- or exposure-associated) metabolites, and it will likely be useful for medical, nutritional, drug, and environmental testing.
