To the Editor Controlling costs is front and center in the health care debate. Physicians are often blamed for the increasing costs, which leads to close scrutiny of their behavior. The survey by Dr Tilburt and colleagues1 provides insights into how physicians feel about controlling health care costs. Curiously, more than 64% of the respondents represented group or health maintenance organization physicians who work in environments that claim cost containment and about 59% were salaried.
