In the 13 years since the last edition of this classic text, understanding of the pathophysiology of heart failure at the molecular and genetic levels has expanded tremendously. This new edition has 33 contributors, 17 chapters, and 800 color illustrations. The stated aim to provide “a comprehensive up-to-date overview of normal cardiac function, the mechanisms of dysfunction in heart failure, and the therapeutic approaches that are available to manage the syndrome” is brilliantly realized.
