This new international journal attempts to differentiate itself from similar titles by encouraging articles that discuss or test the educational theories underlying current and future educational techniques. It includes empirical studies, reviews, and descriptions of interesting new educational tools, approaches, and solutions. As the editors point out, few articles in the current journal literature have content related to the theoretical underpinnings of health sciences teaching methods. The editors of Advances in Health Sciences Education (AHSE) also plan to publish articles spanning all the health-related professions. Editorial board members represent institutions from around the world, although the majority (14 of 24) work in the United States and Canada.
