Even though hyperactivity is often considered the hallmark of attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in children, symptoms of inattention are more common in adults with the disorder.

In recent years, researchers studying ADHD have learned that such symptoms frequently persist into adulthood. To get a clearer picture of how ADHD affects adults, researchers at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston reviewed patient assessment data from 149 adults with ADHD who had been referred to the hospital's psychopharmacology clinic.
