Thyroid Disease: Endocrinology, Surgery, Nuclear Medicine, and Radiotherapy, edited by Stephen A. Falk, 2nd ed, 768 pp, with illus, $139, ISBN 0-397-51705-X, Philadelphia, Pa, Lippincott-Raven, 1997.
It has been 7 years since the first edition of this textbook was published. The intent of the editor is the same, that is, to produce a thyroid textbook by specialists in many different areas. The editor has assembled a most eminent cast of "authors with special interests in physiology, endocrinology, surgery, nuclear medicine, radiation and medical oncology, diagnostic radiology, embryology, anatomy, anatomic and clinical pathology, immunology, ophthalmology, pediatrics, anesthesiology" and other areas. Contributors were selected for their "expertise, writing ability, and enthusiasm."
