Great Britain's licensing body for physicians, the General Medical Council (GMC), has published a new edition of Good Medical Practice, a booklet that specifically sets out the duties and responsibilities of physicians registered with the GMC.
"We want to see these standards thoroughly embedded in medical practice and in all stages of medical education as quickly as possible," said Sir Donald Irvine, MD, president of the GMC. The updated edition has a greater emphasis on reporting improper medical practices, along with information on duties of medical educators and on effective teamwork.
