NIDR Turns 50, Is Renamed

The health agency formerly known as the National Institute of Dental Research (NIDR), recently celebrated its 50th anniversary by changing its name to the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research.

Agency officials say the new moniker more accurately represents the research supported by the institute, which goes well beyond dentistry's traditional focus on dental caries and periodontal disease.
