The flurry of new HIV drugs approved on an accelerated basis by the Food and Drug Administration has left physicians and patients wondering about long-term efficacy and adverse effects, especially with hundreds of possible drug combinations.
A new Web site announced last month by pharmacologists at the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Pharmacy will allow health care professionals to share and evaluate information about the efficacy and interactions of HIV medications. The National HIV Pharmacotherapy Network can be accessed at http://wings.buffalo.edu/hiv_pharm_net. Some areas of the site will be available to patients and the general public; postings will begin early in 1999.
