As the Human Genome Project hurtles toward its goal to obtain a blueprint for all human genes within the next few years, health care professionals and the public alike will be wrestling with the genetic terms and concepts needed to understand recent advances in human genetics.

To help those seeking such information, the National Human Genome Research Institute has launched an online "talking glossary of genetics," available on the Internet at http://www.genome.gov/glossary.cfm. The project combines text, audio, and illustrations of selected terms to help explain nearly 200 essential genetics terms.
