A new Outreach and Information Center, operated by the US Food and Drug Administration's Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition (CFSAN), will address the public's need for information on food safety issues from foodborne infections to the use of dietary supplements. The center will operate CFSAN's newly expanded toll-free public information line, (888) SAFEFOOD.
Some 200 hours of recorded information about food safety and other issues (such as cosmetic safety) are available round-the-clock. Specialists at CFSAN are available to answer questions on weekdays from 10 AM to 4 PM, Eastern time.
