This reviewer feels at a decided disadvantage in commenting on the merits of this sixth edition of Robbins Pathologic Basis of Disease. Having been greatly impressed with the high quality of the excellent writing, exposition, and editing of the fifth edition, he finds it difficult, and a real task, to identify any major improvement in the essential excellence of the book, apart from the judicious incorporation of new knowledge. The authors have once again succeeded in their aims of integrating into their discussion the newest firm information, which has become available in the fields of morphology and the molecular understanding of the underlying mechanisms of disease. The clarity of the text is universally of the highest standard and one wonders how what is essentially a multiauthor text can appear to be the work of one.
