Having had the opportunity to review the second edition of this well-known text, I was pleasantly surprised to find a number of improvements in the new edition. The third and fourth editions are both about 2500 pages yet are around the same size as the shorter (2000 pages) single-volume second edition. Readability has been improved with a slightly finer print and an increase in white space, which, although initially seeming too light, made reading much less fatiguing after 20 minutes of scrutiny.
