This book represents a single-volume encyclopedia on the history of psychiatry over the past century. Accordingly, it is chock full of tidbits, pearls, and little known facts about the profession. Seventy international authors, who bring a world-view perspective to the topic, develop 10 chapters, one for each decade in the century. Each chapter begins with a table of contents, which lists the nodal psychiatric achievements of the decade, and time lines, which underscore major world events and momentous events in psychiatry.
