Suicide is a riveting and painful subject. Most mental health professionals and many medical practitioners will have significant encounters with suicidal patients or survivors. The present volume, while part of a long literature on the subject, is a signal contribution to suicidology. It is offered, as its title states, as a comprehensive textbook on the subject. Its three authors and 16 additional contributors provide a carefully laid out work, with a full presentation of the literature and controversies in suicidology.
