In 1996, it was my pleasure to review and recommend Clinical Oncology, edited by Drs Abeloff, Armitage, Lichter, and Niederhuber. The intent, both now and then, is not to compare this text with the other oncology texts, but rather to discuss its unique strengths and weaknesses. The editors state in the preface to the second edition, "The response to the first edition was so gratifying that we concluded that our basic philosophy did not require alteration." Once again, the editors are to be congratulated for providing a well-written, well-organized, easy-to-read, usable, and comprehensive multidisciplinary oncology text.
