The prime feature of Medicalculator 1.1 is the calculation of results from measured parameters. Also included are conversions for weights and measures and the molecular weights of 79 medications. Material with the program states that the product contains 700 calculator panels and 300 formulas and equations. Recommended hardware is 64 MB RAM with a 300 MHz processor.
This program is a browser driven aid to calculations likely to be used in the practice of medicine, and a browser is required. Internet Explorer 4.0 or higher is recommended. Netscape Navigator 4.0 or higher can also be used. Use of the 4.0 version with Windows 95, Windows 98, and the recently released Windows ME is trouble free. One system employing AOL 5.0 with Explorer 5.0 does not run, but this could be a function of AOL or the combination of the two specific versions. Being fully browser based, it will not work on most current "palm" systems.
