Writings on an Ethical Life is a one-volume collection of Peter Singer's views on several controversial social issues. Singer argues that value judgments should be matters of rational scrutiny and not matters of taste about which argument is futile. His topics include animal rights, vegetarianism, factory farming, abortion, life-and-death decisions about seriously defective newborns, the sanctity of human life, euthanasia, obligations of the rich toward the poor, and environmental accountability.
