As the subtitle indicates, Five Hundred Years of Medicine in Art is not a coffee table art book but rather a catalogue. Clements C. Fry, MD (1892-1955), began his tenure at Yale University School of Medicine in 1926 as a psychiatrist. Soon after his appointment, he began collecting medical prints and drawings, a pursuit that he followed enthusiastically for 30 years. His extensive collection, bequeathed to Yale University, includes about 2000 prints and drawings by 600 artists and spans five centuries.
