The field of laboratory medicine is a large, diverse one with a definite need for a reference text to cover it. The second edition of Dr McClatchey's text, published eight years after the first, strengthens its position as that needed reference. McClatchey has reassembled 11 section chiefs, all of whom are well known in their fields, and they have obtained contributions from 109 well-qualified individuals. The pages listing these chiefs and contributors are a Who's Who of the field.
