The publication of neurologist Robert Laureno's Raymond Adams: A Life of Mind and Muscle has surpassed Oxford University Press's objective of “excellence in research, scholarship, and education.” Laureno, inspired by Adams' reputation and by his many interviews with both Adams and Adams' former colleagues, trainees, and family, has documented the life of an exceptional scholar and teacher who chaired the Department of Neurology at the Massachusetts General Hospital and influenced a generation of US physicians.
