Donor Dopamine Pretreatment and Graft Function After Kidney Transplantation

JAMA. 2010;303(3):230-232. doi:10.1001/jama.2009.1994

To the Editor: Dr Schnuelle and colleagues1 performed a well-designed and -executed research study. However, I have questions about the informed consent process. I am particularly concerned about the statements that “the study was strictly observational for the recipients, and the intervention was limited to the deceased donor,” so that “the ethical commission agreed that separate written informed consent for the study was not required from the recipients.”
